Immaginate di poter vivere un' estate lunga un anno. In effetti è possibile... andando a vivere ai tropici, oppure ritirandosi su un Wally, lo yacht-isola in grado di fare il giro del mondo in completa autonomia, oppure... oppure tenendo con sè gli inseparabili compagni di mille avventure anche a stagione finita. Semplicemente indossandoli. Ci hanno accompagnato in infinite passeggiate serali sui pontili, hanno condiviso con noi l' ebrezza della furia marina, hanno sostenuto la nostra determinata traversata di intere metropoli, alla continua scoperta di meraviglie inimmaginate, in questi primi albori d' autunno passeggiano ancora con noi di buon grado... i mocassini sono stati davvero nostri compagni di vita nei tre mesi appena trascorsi, e possono esserlo ancora per i successivi otto, basta permettergli un semplice "cambio d' abito": dagli istituzionali "Gommino" di Tod's, ai più specializzati Car Shoe (in cui i gommini sono disposti e tagliati in modo da fare maggior presa sui comandi dell' auto), passando per i "Brera" dei Fratelli Rossetti, uno dei primi esempi di radical-chic made in Italy, le amate calzature si alzano di qualche millimetro, rinforzano appena la tomaia e si coprono un po' meglio, diminuendo la scollatura e sostituendo suéde e nappa a vitello e camoscio. Si declinano nelle tonalità cromatiche tipicamente autunnali , pur senza dimettere del tutto le tenui e radiose nuances estive, magari per il piacere dei più ardimentosi, che al grigio, al verde bosco, ai dettagli rossi, al testa di moro e al nero, continueranno a preferire celeste e verde pastello, per sfidare i girigiori cittadini. E se si gioca di meno con fiocchi e nappe (fatti salvi il fiocco di Tod's, le nappine Brera e le frange frontali "so British" di Church's), la più fervida immaginazione faticherà a immaginare le possibilità di ironica variazione sul tema che l' Uomo di Stile avrà abbinando i mocassini preferiti a calzini rigorosamente gioiosi, loro sì "armi" di una Traditional Revolution, mai stucchevole nè gridata...
